How to Crochet Popcorn Stitch
By
How to crochet Popcorn Stitch? Well, that depends on whether you crochet in squares or rounds. Popcorn Stitch is a decorative stitch adding dimension to your work. It has a definite right and wrong side. The stitch can be used on it own to crochet an egg cosy (for example) where each row of popcorn stitches is worked in between the popcorns of the previous row.
However of you want to crochet a blanket and want popcorn stitches on each row then you must decide where you want the stitches. Here is how to crochet a popcorn st on top of a popcorn - you will crochet 5dc into the center or the previous popcorn stitch, take your hook out of the loop & insert into the 1ch & back into the loop dropped but keeping the hook on the front of your work and draw through. This keeps your popcorns at the front of your work (right side). You will drop and pick up your loops making your stitch either in front or behind on alternate rows keeping all the popcorn stitches on the right side of the work. Work popcorn stitch either on top of the popcorn in previous row or in between and create your own design with the stitches.
