Double crochet (USA) / Treble crochet (UK and International)

Description of Stitch

The double / treble crochet is a longer stitch than a single / double crochet stitch. This is a basic crochet stitch and used in most patterns.

Step 1

Start with a length of chain. When you get to the end of your chain and are ready for your first row.

Step 2

Put the hook under the yarn picking up one loop and then miss the first two chain.

Step 3

Insert the hook into the third chain and put the hook under the yarn and pull through one loop.

Step 4

Put the hook under the yarn and pull through the first two loops on your hook.

Step 5

Now put the hook under the yarn once more and pull through the remaining two loops. This completes a double / treble crochet stitch.

Step 6

This shows one complete row of double crochet / treble crochet.
