How To Crochet Bead Rope Necklace
By
How to crochet with beads! This is a very easy and simple way to crochet a beaded necklace… once you have had a little practice.
I crochet a sample using large pony beads so you can see the different effect when you thread your beads onto your thread in a specific sequence or just at random.
Size E or 6/0 beads are normally used with a size 1.75mm steel crochet hook & a No 2 nylon cord.
You can make this just as a rope (not joined) or join by stitching the ends neatly together or make a shorter length necklace by adding a clasp to fasten.
This bead rope is simple but does take a little practice.
The bead stitch is a slip stitch worked with a bead.
Ch 6 & join to form a ring.
Insert hook under the 2 top loops of the next chain, slide a bead down the yarn close to your work, yarn over hook & draw through both loops on hook(1 bead st made)
Repeat in each chain until you have 5 beads worked.
Work in continuous rounds (causing the beads to spiral) working a bead stitch into the bead stitches.
Insert hook into the hole of the bead stitch (after the bead) slide the bead far enough to the back of the hook so that it is locked under the yarn. Slide a bead down to the hook,YO hook and pull through both loops on hook. Continue working a bead stitch into each bead stitch for the length desired.
Work the final round without beads so that the last bead row lies correctly.
You can stitch the ends together making a necklace or leave as a rope adding some dangling beads to the ends or join with a large focal bead or beads.
Hope you find the instructions helpful.

Thank you for the video. I’ve made rope necklaces, but started them a little differently. I have been trying to figure out the directions I have for a kit I got, and this video helped me understand the directions. It also helped me learn how to end my project. I couldn’t figure out how to end the rope so that I could easily put a clasp on the end. This will help.

I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to make the video. It is wonderful. My great-grandmother made these with pearls about 35 years ago, maybe longer. I didn’t get one of these but was always amazed by them. Now I can make some. I downloaded a free program called D B Bead that helps you lay out patterns. It is really easy to use. I can’t wait to make one nice enough to wear.

What a great video! My mother-in-law made many of the necklaces for all the girls in the family… I want to continue the tradition for my grandaughters. I have been looking for this pattern for weeks and I think this one video just made it so much easier to do them! Thank you so much for taking the time to create this video! It’s excellent!
